Two members of the Gulf Cartel sentenced to 135 years in prison

Mexico City. José de Jesús Caballero Sánchez or José de Jesús Caballero González alias “El You” or “El Necio” and Miguel Reyes Martínez alias “El Cobra” or “El Dos”, alleged members of the criminal organization known as the Gulf Cartel, were sentenced to 135 years in prison and fined 269,428 pesos.

In a statement, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported on Monday that, through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO), in coordination with the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in the State of Tamaulipas, it obtained a conviction against both individuals for the crimes of organized crime (kidnapping hypothesis), kidnapping to the detriment of nine victims, possession of firearms and cartridges for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces.

According to the investigation, those sentenced today are accused of belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to kidnapping in Tamaulipas, where they were arrested in 2010 by elements of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), in a home in Altamira; in the place, war material was seized and nine people who had been deprived of their liberty were rescued,” he said.

The sentence was handed down by the Second District Court of Tamaulipas, based in Matamoros.

12 people are brought to trial

In another case, the FGR also obtained from a Judge of the Federal Criminal Justice Center in Chiapas the linkage to proceedings against 12 people, who when detained were wearing vests with the initials and legend of the criminal organization “Los Enteradores.”

They are: Alexis Paniagua Chambor, Abenai Villarreal Gomez, Yahir Madero Cruz Zazueta, Eduardo Rodrigo Juarez Lopez, Daniel Alexander Lopez Acosta, Emanuel Penaloza Rauda, ​​Fidel Lopez Miranda, Eduardo Vargas Villalva, Anselmo Gomez Espino, Anselmo Gomez Beltran, Jaime Enrique Guzman Armenta and Angel Roberto Lopez Olivas.

They were prosecuted for their probable responsibility in the crimes of carrying a firearm, possession of cartridges and magazines for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces, and against public health in the form of simple possession of marijuana.

In a statement, the FGR explained that according to the investigation, elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and the National Guard (GN), while carrying out ground patrols in Benemérito de las Américas, Chiapas, received a citizen complaint that warned that on Calle 12 Comunidades, there were armed men aboard a truck.

The military and national guardsmen went to the scene and, after a confrontation with the civilians, the people were arrested. They were found to be in possession of 12 loaded rifle-type firearms, 59 magazines with 150 cartridges, 12 tactical vests with the initials and legend of a criminal organization, and 1,392 grams of marijuana.

A District Judge ordered that these individuals be prosecuted for the aforementioned crimes and that they be placed in preventive detention at the State Center for Social Reintegration No. 14, “El Amate,” in Cintalapa, Chiapas, as well as six months of additional investigation.
