50 million euros fee for Munich concerts

Superstar Adele gave ten concerts in Munich in August – and is said to have made a tidy sum for it. But the singer was not the only one to profit from the event.

It was a music event of superlatives: On ten evenings in August, singer Adele performed in München – in a concert arena built especially for them on a theme park-like site. They attracted over 730,000 visitors from all over the world to their only European concerts in the Bavarian metropolis.

Around 730,000 tickets were sold in total, as the organizers announced. And the fans had to sleep and eat somewhere, they went shopping, took taxis or buses. Visitors to the Adele concerts are estimated to have spent around 530 million euros, according to Munich’s economic advisor Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU). “It was like a summer fairy tale,” summed up the President of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association, Angela Inselkammer.

The concert organizer Live Nation is said to have invested around 150 million euros in the mega event, but recouped the costs through ticket sales alone. But Adele herself also made a tidy sum. According to “Bild,” her fee for the ten performances in Munich was around 50 million euros.

The singer is now taking a break. During her last show on August 31, Adele said she had “really enjoyed performing for almost three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done it and probably the longest I’ll ever do it.” At the end of October, she will start a series of ten shows in Las Vegas in the USA. “After that, I won’t see you again for an incredibly long time,” the Brit announced in Munich.

Adele had already withdrawn from the public eye a few years ago. After 121 concerts between 2016 and 2017, she had to cancel her world tour due to vocal cord problems. It was not until October 2021 – six years after her third studio album “25” – that Adele released new music again with “30”.
