First pictures show MCU & “Star Wars” stars in an atypical sci-fi film

Stephen King fans can rejoice: A new film adaptation of one of his stories will soon reach us, and the first promising images have now been released.

Horror director Mike Flanagan has already proven his talent for book adaptations with the Netflix hit series “The Haunting of Bly Manor”, “The Haunting of Hill House” and “The Fall of the House of Usher”. Although these were adaptations of gothic horror classics, with the film adaptations of “Doctor Sleep” and “The Game” he also dared to create stories based on works by horror masters Stephen King to stage – with success: “Doctor Sleep’s Awakening” received Rotten Tomatoes 79% from critics and 89% from audiences. The Game received similar praise, as evidenced by ratings of 91% and 70%, so Flanagan’s next Stephen King adaptation should be in capable hands.

Next, the horror director adapts the film „The Life of Chuck“ Finally, King’s novella “The Life of Chuck”, which is included in the short story collection “Bloody News”. However, the story is much more sci-fi than the usual gruesome horror. “The Life of Chuck” tells a Doomsday storywhich according to Vanity Fair in particular, it is intended to evoke “melancholy, gratitude, even joy”. Among those in front of the camera were Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”), Karen Gillan (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Mark Hamill (“Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope”), Matthew Lillard (“Scream”) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Doctor Strange”).

Vanity Fair has now published first pictures of Flanagan’s latest work, which already provide an exciting insight into the sci-fi film. You can see the pictures here:

In addition to the first images from the film, Vanity Fair has now also provided new plot information about “The Life of Chuck”: The earth is about to end – and while this causes absolute panic for some, for others it is a blessing. For example, Ejiofor and Gillan’s characters try to explain the apocalypse and save as many people as they can. On the other hand, there is Lillard’s character, a construction worker, who finds peace in the midst of the chaos. The film presents the events in reverse order, i.e. the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning – and the middle is “a dance number” in which Hiddleston appears for the first time as the title character.

Even though this new information may raise more questions than it answers, we can certainly be excited about “The Life of Chuck.” Although “The Life of Chuck” will premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, it is not yet known when the film will reach us in this country. However, Stephen King promises that the excitement will pay off: The horror author recently saw the finished film and described it as “a machine of happiness”. A star of the film also raved about the film in the past, which you can read more about here:
