Invitation to the launch of the school networks press conference

At the beginning of the school year, more than 1,500 QuaMath schools will be putting the practice into practice for the first time. The launch event in Saarland is an example of the nationwide practical launch of QuaMath with the aim of further developing the quality of mathematics teaching. The Saarland Ministry of Education and Culture, the KMK and the QuaMath program management invite you to a press conference.

The event in Saarbrücken marks the start of QuaMath for 18 Saarland schools, including primary schools, community schools and high schools. State coordinators, school principals, multipliers and teachers provide insights into the implementation of the program.
As a continuation of the Berlin launch event in June 2024, this event presents the concrete implementation of QuaMath. The practical phase will start in 15 federal states at the beginning of the 2024/25 school year. The schools will be supported by multipliers in 200 networks.

Press representatives will have the opportunity to conduct interviews with those present and receive detailed information on the next steps of the program.

Background and objectives

The aim of the QuaMath program is to sustainably improve the quality of mathematics education in Germany from early childhood education to the Abitur. Through professional exchange and practical teaching development, tried-and-tested and research-based training and teaching concepts are developed and their use is researched so that they can be optimized.

The focus of the first year and a half of the QuaMath program was the basic qualification of the multipliers, experienced teachers who will lead around 200 school networks. In each school network, around 5 schools meet regularly over the course of the school year and each school participates with a school team of 3-5 mathematics teachers. The second phase of the program begins in the new school year. The concrete work will begin with around 6,000 teachers nationwide.
The press conference offers an excellent opportunity to hear directly from experts from the German Centre for Mathematics Teacher Education (DZLM) and the actors involved from schools and further education how the QuaMath programme is integrated into everyday school life, what challenges need to be overcome and what positive effects have already been observed.
