Walking Football Supercup SV 06 Lehrte takes 8th place

The walking footballers of SV 06 Lehrte achieved a respectable eighth place at the first German Walking Football Supercup in Berlin. A total of 20 teams from 14 federal states competed against host TSV Mariendorf to fight for the coveted title.

Successful preliminary round with strong comeback

The start of the preliminary round was initially bumpy for Lehrter.
They suffered a 1:4 defeat against the host TSV Mariendorf. Wolfgang Heinrich scored the only goal for SV 06 Lehrte. The long journey had clearly taken its toll on the players. But the team did not let this discourage them and put in an impressive performance in the second game against VfB St. Leon from Baden-Württemberg. With two goals from Andreas Purkus and two more from Karl-Heinz Teschner, they secured a clear 4:0 victory. Now the Lehrter team seemed to have finally arrived in the tournament.
This was followed by close but hard-fought 1-0 victories against the SG WF-Team Rheinland-Pfalz and the SG Nedlitz/Magdeburg from Saxony-Anhalt. The goalscorers were again Teschner and Purkus. Thanks to these successes, SV 06 Lehrte finished the preliminary round as second in the group and qualified for the championship round.

Loss of rhythm in the championship round and loss of strength at the end

The lunch break, however, turned out to be a turning point, as the rhythm they had previously displayed was lost. Lehrter had to admit defeat to both the eventual tournament winners SuS Olfen from North Rhine-Westphalia and FSV Krakow am See from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with a score of 0:3.
In the match for seventh place against SV Liegnau from Saxony, the strain of the six games already played was clearly noticeable. The match ended in a clear 0:6 defeat. Despite this final setback, the SV 06 Lehrte team was proud of their performance and pleased with their placement in the top ten.
All in all, the performance of the walking footballers from SV 06 Lehrte at the first German Walking Football Supercup in Berlin was a great success. With great commitment and team spirit, they earned a well-deserved eighth place and showed that they can more than just keep up in the national walking football scene.
