Literature and music: The weekend in Salzgitter

The Shanty Choir of the Salzgitter Marine Association will be performing on Friday, September 6, in the Brücke meeting place of the Fredenberg Forum. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and is being organized with the support of the city and the Salzgitter housing association, according to a statement. The choir will take its audience on a musical journey across the world’s oceans. There will also be fish sandwiches to make the atmosphere even more authentic. Admission costs six euros. Concert at the Drütte Memorial

The ensemble “Klezmers Techter” will be performing at the Drütte concentration camp memorial and documentation center on Friday, September 6th, from 6 p.m. According to the announcement, over the years since its foundation in 1994, it has played its way into the hearts of the audience. When Klezmers Techter play, there is no note without inner involvement. From deep melancholy to exuberant joy of life: they bring countless facets of human emotions to life, and in doing so, each one tells something about itself.

The artists Gabriela Kaufmann (clarinets), Almut Schwab (accordion, flutes, cymbalon) and Nina Hacker (bass) will be accompanied by the mezzo-soprano Shai Terry, one of the most successful Israeli singers of the young generation. Klezmers Techter and Shai Terry present a program with Eastern European Yiddish songs and Hebrew folk songs: music that awakens emotions and touches the soul. Literature gets its own stage

Literature at the “Literature Festival” in Salzgitter will once again have its own stage in the Kniestedt Church (Kniki) from September 6th to 8th. Three different events will be on the programme of the literature festival on three consecutive evenings. All listeners can expect a varied, challenging and entertaining literary weekend, from informative to thought-provoking, from exciting to funny, sometimes set in other times and sometimes with images and/or music. The event is organised by the Literature Office of the City of Salzgitter.

According to the announcement, Nicola Albrecht will kick things off with a reading and a slide show. The ZDF correspondent will read from her book “My Israel and I – Along Road 90” on Friday, September 6th, from 6.30 p.m. in the Kniki. On Saturday, September 7th, also from 7.30 p.m., satirist Ella Carina Werner will read from her humorous book “You can’t have a career without children. Stories from my life”. On Sunday, September 8th, at 6 p.m., there will be a live radio play by the Münster ensemble “Theater ex libris” based on Alexandre Dumas (The Count of Monte Cristo). The radio play has a cast of five actors, music and image projection and is suitable for children aged ten and over. Tickets are available in advance for 12 euros, and at the box office for 15 euros.
