The Mayor of Sozopol Municipality Tihomir Yanakiev and Deputy Mayor Todor Damyanov held a working meeting with the Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov today. Two main issues were discussed – the construction of the bus station in Sozopol and the development possibilities of the island of “St. St. Cyric and Iulita’.
Minister Todorov promised to appoint a reception committee as soon as possible to inspect the excavations at the site of the future bus station and to give instructions for their strengthening and exposure.
Mayor Yanakiev shared his idea to build a hall there to display the discovered artifacts. She was met with approval by the minister.

Mayor Tihomir Yanakiev’s opinion was that it should remain state property.
Minister Todorov agreed, but added that the state should partner with the municipalities in the implementation of projects of this nature.
Minister Nayden Todorov received from the mayor a commemorative plaque with the image of the first Apollonius coin. The plate was made in honor of the celebration of the proclamation of the old town of Sozopol and the island of “St.St. Kirik and Iulita” for an archaeological and architectural reserve.
