Mexico City. The PAN coordinator in the Senate, Guadalupe Murguía, called on the opposition to remain united and strong and to honor the trust placed in it by the 43 percent of citizens who did not vote for Morena and its allied parties, in view of the imminent arrival of the reform to the judicial branch in this chamber.
After participating in the first meeting of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the LXVI legislature, the senator of the PAN rejected that in her parliamentary group there is a risk that someone will vote in favor of the legislative modification mentioned.
“We are united, we are together in this project and we are also working, it must be said, on a counterproposal, an initiative that we are going to present… because it is not just about saying no, but what we want is to be proactive and present an initiative that will improve the administration of justice,” he said.
Murguía confirmed that Congress must abide by the suspension granted by two district judges, one from Chiapas and another from Morelos, to stop the discussion of judicial reform.
For his part, the vice-coordinator of Morena, Ignacio Mier, said that the discussion on the modification referred to by the judges’ decision will not stop.
The legislative power is sovereign and no one can prevent it from doing its job, he stressed.
He considered that the suspensions constitute a media measure, the purpose of which is to generate the perception that some procedure is being violated by the Chamber of Deputies or the Senate, but “the Legislative Branch has to do its job, if it did not do so, it would contravene the Constitution itself.”
