His lifelong friend, Steve Sandifer, recalled how Beckett not only drove people from rehabilitation centers to the church, but also baptized several of them.
Beckett’s life was marked by his service in the United States Navy, where he witnessed historic events such as the nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll.
