The body of a man was recovered Monday from Lewisville Lake, about a day after he jumped into the water and failed to resurface.
A man was on the lake about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a rented boat with friends when he jumped in for a swim, according to a statement from the Lewisville Fire Department. He was not wearing a life jacket and did not resurface.

A park ranger located his body early Monday night and the fire department’s dive team recovered it around 6 p.m., according to a statement from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The statement said the area of the lake the man jumped into was about 45 feet deep.

The victim’s identity had not been made public as of Tuesday morning, though TPWD’s statement said she was 23 years old.
State forest rangers are leading the investigation.
