According to the 2023 Culture and Tourism Development Statistical Bulletin released by the ministry, by the end of 2023, the average space of public libraries per 10,000 people in China was 160.3 square meters, an increase of 11.7 square meters compared to the previous year.
By the end of 2023, there were 18,000 performing arts groups in China, employing 385,000 people. During the year, the bands played 2.542 million shows, attracting 900 million domestic audiences. The total revenue from their performances has reached 20.78 billion yuan (about 2.93 billion US dollars).
1,993 original productions and 3,805 original programs premiered during the year.
