Jannik Sinner is in the quarterfinals of the 2024 US Open, where he will face Daniil Medvedev. However, before the match he has already reached a milestone that only seven players have achieved this millennium.

Quarterfinals at all Grand Slam tournaments in one year

The world number one is the only player to have reached the round of the last eight in all Grand Slam tournaments in 2024. Before the tournament, this achievement was also possible for Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, but both failed in rounds two and three.

Jannik Sinner is the eighth player this millennium to achieve this milestone. Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have achieved this feat most often, each reaching the quarterfinals of all Grand Slams in eight different years. What is particularly impressive is the fact that Federer has achieved this in eight consecutive seasons. In total, he reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal 36 times in a row between 2004 and 2013.

Jannik Sinner has excelled in the last twelve months

The 2023 US Open marks the last tournament before Jannik Sinner’s run of success begins. He then won the two 500 tournaments in Beijing and Vienna, reached the final of the ATP Finals and won the Davis Cup with the Italian team.

At the beginning of 2024, he continued where he left off the previous year. By the end of March, he had won the Australian Open, the 500 ATP in Rotterdam and the Masters in Miami. His only defeat to date was in the semifinals of Indian Wells against Carlos Alcaraz. In addition to the title at the grass tournament in Halle, he most recently won during preparation for the US Open in Cincinnati. To illustrate these outstanding figures, the fact that Jannik Sinner has not only reached the quarterfinals in the four Grand Slam tournaments, but also in all other tournaments he played in 2024 is a good example. The last person to do this over a full season was Rafael Nadal in 2020. However, the Spaniard only played seven tournaments back then, while Sinner is already at twelve events in 2024.

Since the aforementioned US Open 2023, Jannik Sinner’s match record is 72 wins and seven losses. In 2024, he has 52 wins and five losses. He also reached four of his nine Grand Slam quarterfinals in 2024.
