FPÖ – Stumpf: Vienna police chief misjudges the situation

Vienna (OTS) –

The state party secretary of the Vienna FPÖ, Michael Stumpf, rejects the criticism of the Vienna Police President Pürstl of the demand of the Vienna FPÖ leader, City Councillor Dominik Nepp, for an assistance deployment of the Federal Army in Vienna’s crime hotspots.

“Firstly, we demanded that the mayor should politically call on the Vienna Police Department to request such an assistance mission. After all, Ludwig and Pürstl have a good relationship. Secondly, Dominik Nepp did not speak of 150 soldiers, but of 100, as required by law. Legally, there is nothing to speak against the deployment. Thirdly, the Vienna Police Chief should please not deny the soldiers the competence and quality to ensure safety on Vienna’s streets. After all, it has worked excellently in terms of property protection. Fourthly, Pürstl should please ensure that police stations are not closed at night or kept in emergency mode, but that several police officers are finally on duty in Vienna,” explains Stumpf.

“The safety of the people of Vienna must be the top priority. The gang wars between Syrians and Chechens as well as the asylum seeker crime show that public order can no longer be fully guaranteed. I therefore expect the police chief not to immediately reject sensible proposals for more security, but to actively push for their implementation,” emphasises Stumpf.
