Music from the North – Denmark and Estonia in focus

On the eve of the successful Windros Festival in Schwerin This year, the Hagenow Museum is once again inviting you to an exclusive double concert. On Thursday, September 5th, at 7 p.m., two trios will once again bring international flair to Hagenow at the “Windros unterwegs”.

Denmark and Estonia

With the Danish Fiddle Quartet and Cätlin Mägi, classical and traditional string music and songs from Denmark meet archaic and modern sounds from Estonia. The line-up is impressive: Jørgen Dickmeiss and Ditte Fromseier Hockings on violin and vocals, as well as Bruno Sanches on viola and Mathilde Helding on cello, four exceptional talents have joined forces.

Bagpipes and Jew’s harp

They are living their dream of bringing new Danish chamber folk to the stage. Cätlin Mägi is one of the most dazzling and prominent figures on the Baltic music scene: her heart beats for traditional instruments such as the Estonian bagpipe, the Jew’s harp and the old folk songs of her homeland. With effect pedals and a loop station, she transports historical melodies and songs into the present and transforms them into modern soundscapes.
