Several injured in traffic accidents over the weekend

Since Friday, there have been several traffic accidents in the canton of Lucerne. A total of eight people were injured. Alcohol or drugs were involved in several accidents.

Inwil: Teenager injured in self-driving accident: On Sunday, shortly after 2:00 a.m., a small motorcycle rider fell on the gravel path along the Reuss near the St. Katharina motorway service area. The young man was injured and had to be taken to hospital by the 144 emergency service. A rapid drug test was positive. A blood and urine sample was ordered to test his ability to drive. The 16-year-old is not allowed to drive a motor vehicle until the Road Traffic Office makes a decision.

Geuensee: Cyclist injured in collision with car: On Saturday, a female driver was driving on the cantonal road from Büron towards Sursee. In Geuensee, she turned left onto Schulhausstrasse. This resulted in a collision with an oncoming cyclist. The cyclist was injured in the accident and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance service 144. The material damage amounts to approximately 18,000 francs.

City of Lucerne: Significant property damage in collision between two cars: AFor reasons that are still unclear, a car drove onto the opposite lane on Schlösslistrasse in Lucerne on Saturday at around 8:15 a.m. This resulted in a side-on collision with an oncoming car. No one was injured. The material damage amounts to around 32,000 francs.

Schenkon: Car overturns in roundabout – nobody injured: On Friday, at around 9:15 p.m., a car coming from Sursee drove into the Zellfeld roundabout. For reasons that are still unclear, the car tipped over on its side in the roundabout and came to a stop lying on its right-hand side. No one was injured in the accident. A rapid drug test on the 19-year-old driver was positive. A blood and urine sample was ordered to test his ability to drive. The man is not allowed to drive a motor vehicle until the Road Traffic Office makes a decision. The material damage amounts to around 10,000 francs.

Malters: Drunk driver crashes into fence: On Friday (August 30, 2024, around 7 p.m.) in Malters in the Witenthor area, a driver drove off the road into a meadow for reasons that are still unclear and crashed into a fence. No one was injured in the accident. A breathalyzer test on the 39-year-old driver showed a value of 1.45 mg/l. He is no longer allowed to drive a motor vehicle until the Road Traffic Office makes a decision. The material damage amounts to around 2,000 francs.

City of Lucerne – A2 motorway: Six people injured in rear-end collision: On Friday, traffic in the Reussport tunnel on the A2 motorway came to a standstill heading south. A delivery truck driver noticed this too late and crashed into the rear of the stationary car in front of him, which in turn was pushed into the pickup truck in front.
