The Building Inspectorate will decide whether the houses destroyed in Saturday’s fire in the Rzeszów Biała housing estate are fit to be re-inhabited. For now, the residents are staying with their families. The city president has asked the governor to launch aid for the fire victims.

The building supervision inspectorate will begin work on Monday (September 2). For now, it is known that the fire destroyed almost all of the terraced houses on ul. kard. Karola Wojtyły.

Seven out of eight buildings are completely destroyed – said Senior Brigadier Grzegorz Wójcicki, Deputy City Commander of the State Fire Service in Rzeszów.
The losses will be estimated by experts, but unofficially they are said to amount to at least PLN 3 million.
Firefighters received a call about the fire on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. The first teams were on site after 10 minutes. The operation was difficult, the fire was developing quickly, when firefighters arrived, seven houses were on fire – said Senior Brigadier Grzegorz Wójcicki. 121 PSP firefighters and volunteers went to extinguish the fire, 35 teams were on site.
Residents evacuated their homes before rescuers arrived. One person suffered minor burns.
One of the residents of the terraced house has minor burns on his forearm, he was treated on the spot and did not require hospitalization – added the deputy commander of the State Fire Service.
Several residents entered their homes with firefighters to take documents and money. Firefighters helped to remove equipment from the last terraced house.
It is still not known what caused the fire. On Saturday, the services were still talking about the explosion of a gas cylinder connected to the grill. Firefighters are more likely to point to a leak in the installation, reserving that an expert will be responsible for determining the cause of the fire.

Rzeszów Mayor Konrad Fijołek and Vice Mayor Krystyna Stachowska arrived at the scene of the fire. A crisis team was also called.
We provided a bus, water and tea. We provided the affected residents with accommodation in the MOPS building on Skubisza Street, but it turned out that everyone could count on help from family and friends. Accommodation is still available – said Marzena Kłeczek-Krawiec, spokesperson for the mayor of the city.
The president asked the governor to launch aid for fire victims. He also spoke with the owner of the company that built the buildings and heard assurances that the building inspector would receive the necessary documentation.
A police investigation team will also be working on site.
Police officers, under the supervision of a prosecutor and with the participation of a fire expert, will inspect the scene and secure the traces – informed Magdalena Żuk, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Rzeszów.
