The information was provided by the mayor of San Francisco, London Breed, who indicated that Pearsall was shot in an attempted robbery in Union Square, one of the busiest places in the city of Bahia. The police on the scene immediately arrested the offender.

According to a statement from San Francisco Police, “On August 31, at approximately 3:37 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to the area of Geary Street and Grant Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two male subjects suffering from injuries. Officers rendered aid and medics transported both subjects to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.”.
They later indicated that the victim was “San Francisco 49ers player Ricky Pearsall” and during the attempted robbery, “A physical altercation ensued and both the suspect and the victim were injured.” The receiver was reportedly shot in the chest and back minutes after an autograph session in Union Square.
According to the first medical information, Pearsall was immediately treated and is expected to survive his injuries. NBC reported that the young player’s condition is “stable” within his serious condition.
Some witnesses even indicate that Pearsall was able to walk to the ambulance after the attempted robbery.
