Julia Simon was the strongest
The Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival was once again full this year when it was warm and sunny in 2024. So hot that a certain Julia Simon Just before the race, jumped into Lake Annecy to take a swim.
The multiple world champion, who had cooled down well at the start, took the lead from the second shooting. Since she still releases her balls very quickly, she was able to quickly build up a large gap.
Only her great rival Justine Braisaz Moutht could keep in touch, but Julia Simon never opened the door.
Always efficient, solid and fast, the woman who will be aiming for the overall World Cup in a few months’ time won a prestigious victory to the cheers of an enthusiastic audience. Justine Braisaz Bouchet came in second, 14 seconds behind.

Large distances
Behind the star duo of this race came after quite a while Ingrid Tandrevold with 54sec and Lou Jeanmonnot, who was not as precise as usual, with 58sec behind in 4th place.
Sophie Chauveau follows with 1min02 ahead of Estonian Tuuli Tomingas, Anna Gandler, Vanessa Voigt and Lena Haecki-Gross.
“The heat made the exercise difficult, especially the shooting and especially the heeling. I still lack the precision for the World Cup. I think I’ll be going back into the lake soon.”
Now a little rest after our training camp in Bessans. In September we will go back to Lenzerheide, where the next World Championship will take place, it will be nice to discover a new place,” said Julia Simon.
“I am happy with my race, even though I couldn’t catch Julia. I think she is almost unbeatable in these formats. My work is good, that’s good and this race gives meaning to my preparation,” added Justine Braisaz Bouchet.
