The Money Business group took a significant step in their history and released their first album in Czech. Under the title When the Muses are Silent, it is released today on CD, LP and digital platforms.
Four years after the release of their last studio effort Freedom on Sale, Monkey Business comes with the album When the Muses are Silent, sung purely in Czech. He also wrote the Czech texts with a contribution Roman Holé, Tereza Černochová and colleague from South Africa Dan Bárta bassist Pavel Mrázek: “I tried my hardest not to switch accents, as Czech rappers like to do. There was no problem with the Czech language, and I drew topics as always from all around me. I look at everything that’s flying in the air and I also like variety, so I want the songs to touch on everything.” One song (V tenzi astronaut) was written by Bárta together with Holý.
And how did Tereza Černochová and Matěj Ruppert sing in Czech? “Great. I am excited about the Czech record. One always moves forward with every word well spoken and sung. Roman is very particular about precision so that everything can be understood. I’m happy we made it,” Tereza responds and Matěj adds: “In my opinion, the Czech language is a new, fresh wind in the sails of Monkey Business. I wasn’t afraid of her, but for example in the song CIAO! Ciao! Ciao! I sweated a lot. Maybe I’m just sorry that we didn’t start singing in Czech a long time ago.”
Roman Holý again took care of the music and production of the album: “I consider it a small miracle that, even after so many years, we managed to create songs that we really enjoy and fulfill. Now all that remains is to quietly hope that our beloved fans will also like the record and, thanks to the Czech language, it will perhaps appeal to some new ones as well.”
The group invited several guests to the recording: Lou Fanánek Hagen sings in the song Homo Sovietikus and CIAO! Ciao! Ciao! Petr Spáleny. The album also features excellent musicians Ondřej Pivec, Roman Pokorný, Radim Vychopeň and Ashley Slater. The cover inspired by the work of Helmut Newton was created by Jakub Hebík. The release of the album was announced by two singles accompanied by clips: CIAO! Ciao! Ciao! (directed by Roman Holý) and Two on the tracks (directed by Vladimír Michálek). Videos for the songs Homo Sovietikus, V tenzi astronaut and Príma rozvod will follow.
The album When the Muses Are Silent will be christened Monkey Business at an extraordinary concert at Prague’s Občanská plovarna on September 24.
