A farewell at the end of the season

The paths of SG Flensburg-Handewitt and backcourt player Jim Gottfridsson will separate at the end of the 24/25 season after twelve seasons together. The Swede decided to take on a new challenge and will leave Flensburg at the end of this season.

After twelve years together, it is over for the Swede Jim Gottfridsson at the SG. The 31-year-old playmaker wants to join a new exciting project and will leave the SG at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Came as a young guy

“I have made the decision that the twelfth year at SG will be my last. I want to try something new together with my family and dedicate myself to a new project,” says Gottfridsson“I am very grateful for the great people I was able to meet in Flensburg and work with. Flensburg means a lot to me, not just handball, but also the city. I came here as a young guy, got married and had two wonderful children, which is why Flensburg is very close to my heart. I wanted to make my decision early so that I could fully enjoy my last year here. I would also like to thank our fans. You create a great atmosphere at every game, it is incomparable. I hope that we will have a great last year together.”

Achieve even more together

“Jim is a SG celebrity and has had a great career here. We are happy that we have another season together ahead of us. I wish Jim and his family all the best for his sporting future,” said SG Trainer Nicolej Krickau.

Matured into a leading player at SG

“We are very grateful to Jim for everything he has achieved with the SG. Together we have won seven titles, including two German championships, the Champions League, the DHB Cup and most recently the EHF European League. He has matured into a leader both as a Bundesliga player and with the national team. Now it is time for both sides to take new paths. We wish Jim all the best for his professional and private future. He will always remain a part of the Flensburg handball family,” said SG managing director Holger Glandorf on the departure of his playmaker.
