Mexico City. Workers of the Federal Judicial Branch (PJF) demonstrated inside the Federal Judicial Council (CJF) and this time extended their mobilization outside the facilities of that body, carrying signs on which they wrote their rejection of the reform to the Judicial Branch, they positioned themselves from the entrance to the parking lot so that the councilors who will participate in the Plenary Session know their demands.
With texts stating “The Judiciary will not fall” and rejecting the reform of the Judiciary, dozens of employees have taken up positions on various floors of the 14-story building, awaiting a new declaration of support for their movement.
Yesterday, the workers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation held a “silent demonstration” as the ministers passed by, and managed to get a message of support issued and the plenary session suspended at the proposal of Minister Norma Lucía Piña Hernández.
This Wednesday, those who disagree with the ruling approved by the Chamber of Deputies that reforms the Judicial Branch, gathered outside the main headquarters of the CJF, located in Insurgentes Sur, where they chanted some slogans, among them, Judicial Reform, presidential whim! The Judicial Branch will not fall, it will not fall! The Government understands, justice is not for sale!
Meanwhile, some secretaries of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) spoke out at the beginning of the private session of the Second Chamber, which includes ministers Lenia Batres Guadarrama and Yasmín Esquivel Mossa.
The secretaries of agreements, raised posters and sheets with texts rejecting the reform to the Judicial Power, the images of this demonstration are spread in some social networks, and apparently they were taken from behind the ministers who are in session, as is the case of Batres Guadarrama, which is indicative that workers of the Court, including security personnel, are taking pictures of the protest.
In response to the mobilization and protest against the reform of the Judicial Branch, members of the committees of ministers Lenia Batres, Yasmin Esquivel and Loretta Ortiz also stood outside the area leading to the plenary and chamber session rooms, to demonstrate in support of the constitutional amendment that proposes the election of ministers, judges and magistrates by direct and secret vote.
After the workers who oppose the reform to the Judicial Branch demonstrated during the previous session inside the room where the Second Chamber of the Court meets, the president of this room, Minister Alberto Pérez Dayán, authorized the access of the workers of the Batres, Esquivel and Ortiz committees, so that they could also demonstrate. The members of the committees of the ministers silently raised their sheets with writings in favor of the legislative modification and left the place to make way for the public session that is broadcast on social networks.
Screams after “silent” demonstration
After leaving the private session of the Second Chamber, the groups in favor of and against the reform held a “battle” of slogans and shouts, while some shouted: “Judiciary by popular vote”, others shouted: “If the people are informed, the reform will not pass”, “Judiciary…Judiciary”.
