The weak performance of CSKA Sofia continues under the new coach Alexander Tomas. The “Reds” suffered another defeat, this time against Botev Plovdiv with 0:1. The winning goal for Botev was scored by Ukaki, who took advantage of a blunder by Hristiyan Petrov. The match played at Lokomotiv Stadium was watched by only 200 fans of Plovdiv, while CSKA continues to serve its punishment for matches without an audience.
As early as the second minute, the visitors threatened Busato’s goal when Ukaki broke into the penalty area and shot from a small angle, but the Brazilian goalkeeper parried the shot. The symbolic hosts responded appropriately and in the tenth minute after a scrum in the penalty area, Koyalipu turned and fired powerfully, rattling Botev’s crossbar.
Six minutes later, Botev again attacked well on the flanks and Ukaki’s cross found central Maras, but he shot wide. A nice mix-up from Tomasz’s men put Heinz alone against the keeper on the diagonal, but the Norwegian’s shot went wide of the right-hand post. Four minutes before the end of the first half, Koyalipu took a good cross from a corner, but centimeters separated him from the goal.
Shortly after the restart, CSKA could have taken the lead when a mistake by Tam allowed Koyalipu to break free and shoot from close range, but again he missed the finish. All these misses were punished when Hristiyan Petrov made a fatal mistake and gifted the ball to Ukaki, who advanced and coolly beat Busato for 0:1.
In the 81st minute, Nwachukwu tested Busato’s reflex from mid-range, but the keeper reacted well. In the last minutes of regular time, Hristiyan Petrov could atone for the goal when he shot from close range after a corner, but Bernat made an acrobatic save. By the end of the match, the hosts were unable to equalize and suffered their fifth defeat since the beginning of the season. Botev, for his part, recorded a fourth straight win from four away games,
