At 24 years old, Mohamed Simakan will experience a new championship. After Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, the Leipzig defender will be transferred to the Saudi club Al-Nassr for around 45 million euros, franceinfo learned on Friday, August 30. Mohamed Simakan made his professional debut at Racing Club de Strasbourg in 2019, where he quickly established himself as a starter. Capable of playing as a central defender, it was ultimately as a right-back that he made his mark in Germany. The Marseille native, who played for OM in the youth team, was transferred to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021 for 15 million euros.
Mohamed Simakan has been a regular starter in the Bundesliga and European Cups, and has won two German Cups in 2022 and 2023. He made an impression during a Champions League group match, with a huge performance in Leipzig’s 3-2 victory over Real Madrid in October 2022. The former Strasbourg player has played seven matches in the French U21 team, but had never played for the senior team until now.
He will now play for Al-Nassr, the club where Cristiano Ronaldo, Aymeric Laporte and Sadio Mané play.
