Mocking Pele?
Recently, in his new and already popular YouTube channel, UR · Cristiano, the Portuguese star chatted with a former Manchester United teammate, Rio Ferdinand, and mentioned his next big personal goal, leaving a small criticism, perhaps a little mocking, towards Pelé:

“The best mark I aspire to reach in football is, first, to reach 900 goals, so my next challenge is to reach 1,000. But with a big difference: all my goals are filmed, so I can prove them. They are all on video.”
At that moment, his interlocutor, Rio Ferdinand, asked him: “Are you talking about Di Stéfano, Pelé?”, to which CR7 replied:
“Listen to me, I respect them all, but my goals are all real goals… And if you want more goals, we can count the ones I score in training too. No problem,” concluded the Portuguese.
These statements were obviously not well received by the Brazilian public who, aware of the mockery that exists around the figure of Pelé, who would not have scored all the goals that he claimed to have scored and who “counted the goals scored in training” and “those in the schoolyard”, saw these statements as a direct mockery of Pelé.

Hours after these statements went viral, the official X account (formerly Twitter) of the Brasileirão published a video showing, immortalized on video, the moment when Pelé scored his 1000th goal as a professional, in a match against Vasco da Gama.
The names of Cristiano and the late Pele were trending for most of the night, with fans around the world sharing their comments on these “disrespectful” statements from Cristiano, while many defended the Portuguese due to the lack of recorded material of these O Rei statistics.
Did Pele score more than 1000 goals?
According to institutions of the stature of FIFA, IFFHS or Guinness World Records, the answer is yes.
