Promoting community spirit in the village
State farmer Christine Singer and Protestant regional bishop Christian Kopp exchange views on developments in rural areas
08/29/2024 | The Bavarian Protestant regional bishop Christian Kopp and the European MP and regional farmer of the Bavarian Farmers’ Association, Christine Singer, emphasized at a meeting their task of “promoting togetherness in the village and keeping society together.”
In a report from the Evangelical Press Service epd, regional bishop Christian Kopp said that it was necessary to “create places where creation can be experienced.” Living together respectfully is part of faith. However, it is often observed that people retreat into social media, for example, said the regional bishop.
During the discussion about developments in rural areas, Christine Singer said that life in Bavaria is changing rapidly. Topics in her work as a state farmer include concern for the mental health of people in agriculture, burnout and conflicts in relationships, as well as the security of farmers’ wives on farms. On the Protestant side, the agricultural family counseling service and village and farm helpers who step in in times of crisis are doing valuable work here.
