There will be a lasting solution to the crisis not when one party takes a crushing advantage over all others or when we wait for some miraculous assembly, but when we unite around healthy values and it is the people of culture and the arts who build the value system of society and develop our vestibular apparatus to judge which what is up and what is down in the public space, what is good and bad, what pushes us towards a European Bulgaria and what pulls us back.
This was stated by President Rumen Radev at the opening of the 40th edition of the Apollonia Arts Festival in Sozopol.
The head of state was accompanied to the event by his wife Desislava Radeva.
“Next to the sea coast of Sozopol, where the freedom of the spirit, the magnificence of nature, the incredible heritage of a thousand-year-old civilization meet, every year with a lot of love and ambition new inspiring pages are added to the cultural chronicles of Bulgaria,” said the president in his greeting.
Rumen Radev congratulated the participants, the organizers from the “Apolonia” Foundation, the municipal management of Sozopol and all partners for their professionalism and dedication and emphasized that thanks to these efforts “Apolonia” “continues its mission to be the intersection of traditions and new achievements, of the present and the future, to be a forum for established and developing Bulgarian creativity”.
“The colorful world of music, theater, literature, cinema, visual arts, turns the festival into one of the most diverse and significant cultural holidays in Bulgaria,” the head of state also pointed out.
The “Apolonia” arts festivals have been held in Sozopol since 1984 and attract hundreds of artists and thousands of art lovers from Bulgaria and the world. The festival aims to preserve cultural traditions, show the achievements of Bulgarian artists and support new talents and ideas in the field of all kinds of arts such as theater, cinema, music, literature, photography, painting and sculpture.
Within the framework of the current edition of the festival, from August 28 to September 7, a special program of cultural events in Sozopol with the participation of popular Bulgarian artists is planned.
On the occasion of the 40th edition of the Apollonia Arts Festival, for the consistent efforts to preserve native traditions in the arts and the initiative’s significant contribution to the development and enrichment of Bulgarian culture, the head of state awarded the Plaque “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Apollonia Foundation, which organizes the festival.
