The MotoGP championship will return to the Czech Republic in 2025

The MotoGP road motorcycle world championship is returning to the Czech Republic after five years. This was jointly announced at today’s press conference by representatives of the promoter of the championship Dorna Sports, the Autoklub České republiky and Automotodrom Brno in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, the leadership of local governments and the main Czech partner of the race, the Creditas Group.

After many negotiations, today the representatives of the Autoklub ČR and Automotodrom Brno signed a memorandum of cooperation with the company Dorna Sports, which confirms the return of the most prestigious motorcycle championship already next year. This is also possible thanks to the promised support of the state, the South Moravian Region and the city of Brno. From an organizational point of view, the Autoklub ČR together with the Brno Automotodrome will be involved in organizing the renewed Grand Prix of the Czech Republic.

“I am pleased with the successfully concluded negotiations, which are the result of the constructive approach of all parties involved. I would like to thank the Autoklub ČR and Dorna Sports for their sincere support of the idea of putting the Masaryk circuit back on the map of the most prestigious motorcycle championship. At the same time, I greatly appreciate the friendly attitude of the state, the South Moravian Region and the city of Brno. At the moment, we are fully focused on the next key stages of preparations to ensure that the fans will have an exceptional experience.” said the chairman of the board of directors of Automotodrom Brno, Karel Hubáček.

“For me, MotoGP is a matter of my heart, just like it is for tens of thousands of Czech fans. And that’s why I saw it as the Autoklub’s duty to do everything possible for the return of the world championship to Brno. The change of owner of the Automotodrom in Brno brought us new hope and energy. Considering how small a republic we are, we organize many prestigious events. I would like to thank the leadership of the South Moravian Region, the city of Brno and everyone who perceives the return of the world championship as a great opportunity for Brno, the region and the entire Czech Republic,” Jan Šťovíček, president of the Czech Auto Club, commented on the signing of the memorandum.

“We are pleased to announce our return to Brno. This legendary circuit with a fantastic profile has been the scene of many unforgettable moments in the long history of MotoGP. We have already experienced many times here how the slopes are bursting at the seams with passion for our sport. Brno has been the record holder for attendance at all Grand Prix championships several times and we are very happy to be able to bring MotoGP to our fans in the Czech Republic again.” said Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.

“Road motorcycle races have a tradition at Brno’s Masaryk Circuit since the 1950s. It is a prestigious global event that will bring tens of thousands of visitors, often from abroad, to the Czech Republic and especially to South Moravia. I am very happy that we managed to continue this tradition and that the Road Motorcycle World Championship will return to Brno after five years,” stated the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala.

Public and private entities will participate in the financing, roughly half of which should come from public funds. The date of the event will be specified in the coming weeks after the finalization of the FIM calendar for 2025. It is certain that it will be in the summer season.

Cooperation regarding the return of MotoGP to Brno was approved today by the Council of the South Moravian Region. “I’m glad that we survived the difficult times and that MotoGP is returning to Brno. It is an event that is of great importance for our region, not only in terms of sport, but also economically. Approval at the Council is the first step and we believe in support from the Council next week,” stated the Governor of the South Moravian Region, Jan Grolich.

The Brno City Council also gave the go-ahead for participation in the return of the top motorcycle races today. “To this day, I am really very sorry that we had to give up organizing MotoGP races in the economically uncertain covid period. That is why I welcome the current cooperation, I consider it promising and sustainable in the long term. We are preliminarily counting on the fact that the city will participate in the costs of the organization with an annual amount of 35 million crowns. The return of top competitions means strengthening our efforts to make Brno perceived in the world as a place of major sporting events.” noted the mayor of Brno, Markéta Vaňková.

The main Czech partner of the plant will be the CREDITAS group. “The CREDITAS Group has been supporting sports and cultural activities in the Czech Republic for a long time. I am honored that in addition to Czech banking, energy and real estate, the Creditas group will now also have an important position as a partner of the most important event in Czech motorsport.” said CREDITAS Group CEO Jiří Hrouda.
