Now the mother of a nine-month-old baby who was injured in an attack with hot coffee is speaking out. She finds clear words.
Brisbane: Mutter hat „Flashbacks”
The mother reported that “some guy” suddenly came up behind her. Then the stranger poured coffee over her son’s head.
“This is torture,” the mother told 9News. “I’m supposed to protect him, but I couldn’t protect him.” She has “constant flashbacks” of what happened.
A nurse who lives nearby heard the baby’s cries and rushed to help. The woman took the boy into her apartment and showered him, says the baby’s mother. Then an ambulance arrived.

The attack happened on Tuesday afternoon in a park in the south of Brisbane. According to media reports, the family was having a family picnic with their baby. After the stranger poured the hot liquid over the infant, he ran away. Her boyfriend ran after the man, but he escaped, the mother reported.
The infant was taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger. It is not yet clear whether her son will have any scars, says the mother. However, the incident will leave a mark on her family.
“My little boy didn’t deserve this, nobody deserves this,” she wrote on social media. “I wish he had poured the hot coffee on me and not my boy.”

Baby injured with coffee: friend collects donations for family
A friend has set up a fundraising campaign for the family on the Gofundme platform. “It was a callous, random attack on my friend’s baby,” she wrote. The money should help cover medical and household costs and take the pressure off the family. By midday on Thursday (29 August), more than 76,000 Australian dollars (around 47,000 euros) had been raised.
The police have released surveillance camera images of the attacker. They are now hoping for information from the public. A police spokesman called the attack “heartless and cowardly.”
