The 41-year-old Kamarys, who runs the nightclub “Le Ciel” among other things, set up a rapid test center near the Bollwerk in Bern during the Corona crisis. People quickly flocked to his place. The tests, which initially cost 11 francs and later 20 francs, were popular with the unvaccinated party crowd. And Kamarys and his business partners made a fortune from them. But a former business partner then got to know an unpleasant side of the Bernese entrepreneur.
Attack in a lift in the Bern Kursaal
The former business partner apparently owed Jan Kamarys 1.5 million francs, as the «Berner Zeitung» reported. It refers to a penal order that describes an incident in the summer of 2022. At that time, Kamarys met the former business partner in the Kursaal in Bern. He and his three companions followed the man into an elevator.
After a verbal argument, the man was punched and kicked. According to the public prosecutor, “to teach him a lesson for his outstanding debts.” The victim’s watch was also taken away during the incident. The victim suffered multiple bleeds on his face and a tooth injury. There is also talk of a “minor perforation of the eardrum.”
Jan Kamarys had to spend three days in custody. The public prosecutor’s office also imposed a fine of 14,000 francs on him for the attack and attempted coercion.
«I am not a violent person»
The businessman Kamarys made a statement to the newspaper. “I would like to make it clear that I am not a violent person and what happened is not in my character.” The situation with the outstanding money was very stressful for him.
The man had not only cheated him, but also other business partners. According to Kamarys, the alleged debtor had previously “moved abroad and thus evaded his obligations to me.” When he met him by chance, he was overwhelmed with anger and disappointment. He deeply regrets the incident.
