Wednesday was also a day full of developments in SYRIZA, as the Athens Linen deleted by the party’s KO. This is a clear vindication of Pavlos Polakis, who had raised the issue of the institute’s contracts both publicly and officially in the party bodies.
In a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Costa Tasoulathe new president of the KO of SYRIZA, Nikos Pappasannounced the decision to delete Athena Linou. However, the now-independent MP never responded, prompting the leader of the official opposition to announce her deletion via a post.
“I asked for an explanation from Athina Linou about the case of AMKE Prolepsis. The information he provided us created more questions and doubts than before. My office asked for further clarifications and data, which were not provided until today, which is the day of the start of the work of the Parliament” said in his post Stefanos Kasselakis.
“We have been looking all day for Athina Linou to ask her to resign and hand over the seat in order to facilitate the party. Her partners are aware. He doesn’t answer. Therefore, I requested its deletion from K.O. of SYRIZA – PS”, added the president of SYRIZA.

On her part, Athens Linen he noted the following in a letter he later sent to Stefanos Kasselakis: “You are asking me to accept a non-existent guilt. Obviously, this cannot be done on my part”, refusing to resign from her parliamentary capacity.
The – now independent – member of parliament accused the president of SYRIZA of participating “in the malicious slanders of Mr. Polakis” against her, “behaving as an uninvited judge”.
His answer followed SYRIZA in Athena Linou. “The SYRIZA PS, by order of its president, Stefanos Kasselakis, proceeded to delete Ms. Athina Linou from the KO for reasons of transparency. “The 25,000 votes that Mrs. Linou received as a SYRIZA candidate were never disputed,” Koumoundourou noted.
“Ms. Linou avoided providing the clarifications and data requested of her, which she continues to do with her statement today. As is known, it is an inalienable right not to incriminate oneself. When she was sworn in as a member of parliament, she signed the regulation of the SYRIZA PS parliamentary group, which explicitly states that the seat belongs to the party and not to her.”
