Israel denies reaching a truce to provide polio vaccines in Gaza

On Wednesday, the Israeli army published a summary of the results of the investigation into the attack that took place in the town of Jit, in the West Bank, on August 15, when about 100 settlers set fire to it cars and homes, and killed at least one Palestinian.

The research shows, according to what she said Israel Broadcasting AuthorityThe Public Security Service received advance information about the intention of the settlers to commit a crime based on anti-nationalism in the area of the Yitzhar settlement, but the force that arrived at the place did not act strictly enough.

After additional forces arrived, the soldiers were able to push them out of the town, about half an hour after they entered.

The army confirmed that the shooting that killed a Palestinian during these events is still under investigation by the police and the Shin Bet.

Avi Bluth, head of the Israeli army’s High Command, said: “This is a very serious terrorist incident in which the Israelis deliberately harmed the residents of the town of Git. We failed by failing to ‘arrive early to protect them,’ according to what Reuters quoted as saying.

The Jet attack was bigger than recent attacks launched by settlers in the West Bank, but it is not unique, with violence already escalating in Palestinian towns amid the spread building settlements.

The Gate incident, which coincided with growing pressure on Israel from its Western allies to reduce settler violence, began to provoke particular criticism in Israel as well.
