Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has said he will retire “in two or three years” and will “most likely” end up “hanging up his boots” with Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr.
“I don’t know if I will retire soon, I think it will happen in two or three years, but most likely it will happen here at Al Nassr, where I am happy,” Cristiano Ronaldo said in an interview with the streaming channel Now.
“I’ve adapted very well to the country. I like playing in Saudi Arabia and I hope to continue,” said the 39-year-old Portuguese striker, who has already scored 50 goals for Al Nassr, which he joined in 2022.
Cristiano Ronaldo also clarified that he will continue to play for Portugal following reports in the “Old Continent” press about an alleged resignation after Euro 2024.
“Right now I want to continue helping my national team. I feel immensely proud to represent Portugal and its colours, for me it is a dream. That is why, when I leave the national team I will not anticipate it, I will not tell anyone beforehand. It will be a very spontaneous decision on my part, but I will also think about it a lot,” explained Cristiano Ronaldo.
Spanish coach Roberto Martínez will reveal this Friday the 30th the list of players that Portugal will use to play its first two matches of the fourth edition of the Nations League.
Asked what he will do when he retires, Cristiano Ronaldo replied: “Right now I don’t have the idea of being a coach in my head. I wouldn’t do it for any team, it’s a role I don’t see myself in in the future. I imagine myself doing something else, outside the world of football, but in reality only God knows the future,” he concluded.
