After the U17 juniors had already impressed at the Next Generation Cup, where they took fourth place, it was now time to bring their good performances to the Langen Women’s Cup. The showdown with a total of five other teams began with the group phase, in which the girls played against both 1. FSV Main 05 and 1. FC Saarbrücken. They mastered both matches with flying colors. The girls achieved a 2-0 victory against Mainz, and even managed to win 4-0 against FC Saarbrücken.
Final opponent penalty shootout
With a five-point lead and a clean sheet, the Eintracht girls entered the semi-finals in first place and had to prove themselves against 1. FC Nuremberg. Despite a tough fight from both teams, the teams finished the regular season with a 0:0 draw. The decision was therefore to be made in a penalty shootout – similar to the previous week. Even though goalkeeper Liv Oesterle managed to save the first penalty and thus made an absolute dream start, it was not to work out this Saturday either. Two other Eintracht players failed as the game progressed, so that the Nuremberg girls ultimately had the upper hand with a score of 7:8. The girls with the eagle on their chest therefore went into a duel for third place, where they again met 1. FSV Mainz 05. The eagle bearers left nothing to chance in this match either and won comfortably with two goals from Sophea Thiele. Bayer 04 Leverkusen were the tournament winners.
