In January of this year, around 100 children visited the WTA Upper Austria Ladies Linz professionals in the design center and were able to practice rallies with the absolute world class of women’s tennis. The enthusiasm of the school beginners left a lasting impression on tournament director Sandra Reichel, which is why tennis was also included in the regular program of Sport & Fun with the Stars.
On Tuesday, August 27, Vice Mayor Karin Hörzing and Tournament Director Sandra Reichel invited around 50 children from the Hauderweg and Sennweg kindergartens to play a ball game together at the net. After warming up, the children were able to enjoy professional training, with the focus always being on having fun with the sport and exercise.
“Sport and exercise are essential for children’s physical and social development. With sport and fun with the stars, we want to promote this in the best possible way and convey the joy of sport and exercise, which we clearly succeeded in doing again today! My big thanks go to Sandra Reichel for her great commitment,” said Vice Mayor Karin Hörzing.
“It is a matter close to my heart to get children interested in tennis and to inspire them. That is why it is important to encourage their talents from a young age. The Sport and Fun with the Tennis Stars campaign is a great initiative that we are very happy to support,” Sandra Reichel concluded.
Around six years ago, “Sport & Fun with the Stars” was launched by Vice Mayor Karin Hörzing. Since then, the format has been a true success story, bringing together more than 6,000 school beginners with Linz’s sports greats and clubs. The primary goal of the initiative is to teach children to enjoy exercise and sport. Since its inception, Sport & Fun with the Stars has been continuously expanded and new clubs and sports have been added to the program.
