The Spaniard Javier Gómez Noya and the British Alistair Brownlee will resume their historic challenge in the fifth stage of the new World Long Distance circuit, the T100 ‘Triathlon World Tour’, which will take place on September 29 in Ibiza. The Spanish Triathlon Federation (Fetri) has highlighted in a note that both athletes will face each other once again, “recalling the historic battle” that they maintained for a decade in the major international events and with the “clearest example” in the 2012 London Olympicswhen the elder Brownlee eventually edged out Noya in the final stretch to claim the Olympic title, in a race in which his younger brother, Jonathan, took bronze.
The Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO) and ‘World Triathlon’ have made official the name of The 17 contracted professional triathletes who will compete in this stage of the ‘T100 Triathlon World Tour’, which will land in Ibiza on Saturday, September 28. Alongside Noya and Brownlee there will also be other big names such as the Frenchman Sam Laidlow, who arrives after his victory in London in the last T100 round, and the Paris 2024 Olympic athlete, the Belgian Marten Van Riel, after his triumph in the T100 in San Francisco, when he beat New Zealander Kyle Smith and German Rico Bogen in a “spectacular way”, the organisers point out.

Australian Max Neumann will also be taking part on the island in his second T100 race and hoping to repeat victory in Ibiza after his triumph at the 2023 PTO European Open. Noya has highlighted his “desire to participate” in the Ibiza T100, since he will be racing “at home” and has pointed out that the “best male and female triathletes in the world will be on the island “So it promises to be a very special event, both for us and for the athletes of the MD/LD Spanish Cup.”
He also reminded us that there are still some registrations available for this race, as well as for the open water swimming events on Friday afternoon and the Children’s Aquathlon: “Now is the time to get your registration while you can. Put yourself to the test and join us in Ibiza,” the athlete stressed.
There are only 25 points between the top 5 in the men’s classification of the ‘T100 World Tour’, which will start on Sunday 29 September at 08:00 on the beach of Ses Figueretes and will have a total distance of 100 km: 2 km of swimming, 80 km of cycling and 18 km of running. At 10:30 and with the same route, the women’s race will start and the culmination will be on Sunday with the dispute of the Spanish Cup of medium and long distance.
