The President of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro, accepted today that there were “mistakes” in the budget allocations of the legislative factions for the hiring of personnel. However, he said that “it will never happen again.”
Castro explained that the error was that the Legislative Assembly allowed VAMOS deputy Claudia Ortiz to have more staff than budgeted. Initially, Claudia Ortiz confirmed that she had been assigned $20,000 for the hiring of her staff, by verbal agreement. However, in a national broadcast, the unconstitutional president, Nayib Bukele, announced the reduction of the budgets assigned to each deputy by $11,000 for the hiring of their team.
Castro said that the deputy was informed more than three weeks ago that she had a budget of $11,000 for her technical and administrative team, as well as for the rest of the deputies. As for the budget of deputy Ortiz, the extra money obtained in the first months will be deducted in the next 2 months.
“Obviously, mistakes were made, which were reported and immediately corrected. I even said recently that not only was it detected, admitted and corrected, but there was also a commitment that this will never happen again,” Castro emphasized.
The Assembly has kept information about the budgets for deputies and factions confidential, and it was not because the opposition deputy reported the use of the 20 thousand dollars for her faction, which generated criticism from the population and followers of Nuevas Ideas, that the president came out to accept that all deputies, since the previous legislation, were given $14,500, but that it was reduced to $11,000.
The Nuevas Ideas deputies always denied that they had these funds for the hiring of “assistants,” but Bukele confirmed it.
A hacker organization also leaked that the legislative faction of Nuevas Ideas had hired 450 people, including photographers, content generators, publicists, models, among others.
