According to the Standard, the London club are considering a bid for the 28-year-old before the transfer window closes on Friday. However, Chelsea face the difficulty of competing with the £16m-a-year wage offer tabled by Saudi club Al Ahli, who are also in the race for Toney. Brentford are reported to be willing to let the striker go for around £40m.

As well as Toney, Chelsea are actively seeking a new striker and have set their sights on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that Chelsea could make their first official bid for the Nigerian striker in the coming days, although they must prepare for competition from clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain. Al Ahli have also shown interest in Osimhen, offering €70 million to Napoli.
In other transfer moves, a deal has been confirmed between Bayern Munich and Al Ahli for winger Kingsley Coman, subject to the player’s availability to join the Saudi league. Liverpool are meanwhile in talks to sign winger Federico Chiesa from Juventus, while Manchester United and Newcastle are considering a bid for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Finally, transfers continue to shake up the market. Negotiations between AS Monaco and former Liverpool defender Joël Matip have failed due to the player’s wage demands. In addition, Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed a loan deal for defender Nordi Mukiele, who will undergo a medical soon, completing a series of important moves in the closing transfer window.
