The glow of fire can be seen in the sky over Baden-Württemberg for about a minute on Wednesday night. In various cities in Baden-Württemberg, the police are therefore receiving calls from citizens who have seen the spectacle in the sky. Sightings have also been reported in Heilbronn. Now the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) has spoken out and explained what it was all about.

According to the BBK, a Starlink satellite entered the Earth’s atmosphere over Switzerland. The Bundeswehr’s Space Situation Center passed this information on to the BBK, a spokeswoman for the Federal Office told the German Press Agency. This astronomical spectacle could be observed in many cities in southern Germany – calls were received to the police headquarters in Stuttgart, Ravensburg and Konstanz, according to their spokespersons.
