Rowers from all over the country will meet at the main sports venue in Los Ríos.

The excitement of paddling on water will move to dry land. This coming August 31, the Valdivia National Ergometer Rowing Championship will be held at the Antonio Azurmendy Municipal Coliseum.

The event kicks off the Chilean Rowing Federation’s national championship season and will return to the capital of the Los Ríos Region in 2024, with its last version being held here in 2019.

This national event is developed by the Chilean Rowing Federation in conjunction with the Austral Regional Rowing Sports Association and also has the support of the Municipality of Valdivia and the National Sports Institute.

More than 650 athletes from all over the country are expected to come and give their all at the indoor rowing festival.

For this version, 15 ergometer machines will be connected for the competition and in addition there will be a giant screen to follow the competition of the athletes in the different series, ranging from the master category, pre-alevín, alevín, infantil, cadets, juveniles, Under 23, lightweights and adults, belonging to the 22 rowing clubs that will be represented in this national competition.

The event will be broadcast on the municipal television channel ValdiviaTV, the sports festival will have spaces for food trucks, along with a health team that will assist the athletes in case of emergencies.

Carlos Soto, president of the Austral Regional Rowing Sports Association, said he expects an interesting championship, with good technical marks.

“We want to continue promoting the work done by the association and the federation that benefits athletes,” said Soto.

“The fact that we can hold an indoor rowing championship in this venue with the fundamental support of the municipality encourages us to continue working to ensure that this is a top-quality event,” he said.

The competition will start at 9 a.m., with intervals of approximately five minutes, with the master categories opening the competition, then starting with the youngest categories and ending with the adults.

The event will conclude with the 4K master relay events and the 10K team relay events. Entry to the championship is free of charge, so there are no excuses for not attending this sporting event where the ergometer will take centre stage.
