These tickets may not be sold

Ticket sales for Adele’s shows at Messe Riem have caused a legal dispute. The organizer estimates that the amount at stake is 100,000 euros.

On Monday, the Munich Regional Court prohibited the Dutch company Ticketbande BV from selling Adele concert tickets under misleading names. The “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and “Merkur” reported this on Monday. The judges thus confirmed an interim injunction that the concert organizer Live Nation had obtained in March.

What is it about? On the ticketbande.de platform, tickets were offered in categories such as “Seat Category 1 ++” or “Standing room front of stage 1” – but these categories do not exist at all for the Adele concerts in the “Adele World” at the Riem trade fair.

In addition, the tickets advertised on the website are genuine, but are offered at greatly inflated prices. According to reports, a ticket costs between 499 and 999 euros, while the regular price is between 200 and 400 euros.

According to the “Merkur”, a Live Nation lawyer compared the company on Monday with the controversial portal Viagogo: “Similar to Viagogo, this company earns so much money through commissions for horrendous ticket prices that it can afford long legal proceedings.” The Ticket Gang’s lawyers, however, argue that the designation of the ticket categories is irrelevant, since it is a well-known venue with standard seating.

In fact, however, the concert will take place on a specially constructed open-air stage in Munich-Riem. Live Nation estimates the value of the dispute at 100,000 euros. After the confirmation of the preliminary injunction, a main decision on the concert organizer’s lawsuit is still pending.

Meanwhile, British pop musician Adele has now completed eight of her ten planned shows in Munich. Two more dates are scheduled for this Friday and Saturday. Around 75,000 fans are expected at each concert, who can experience 20 songs and a fireworks display in around two and a quarter hours.
