The US Open of tennis will continue without a Greek presence, after the elimination of Stefanos Tsitsipas by the Greek-Australian Thanasis Kokkinakis: 6-7 (5), 6-4, 3-6, 5-7. Tsitsipas appeared overworked against his nameless opponent, while he also felt abdominal discomfort during the match, which was close to 4 hours long.
The 28-year-old Kokkinakis is at number 74 in the world ranking, while Tsitsipas, who reached the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics, remains at 10 on the list.
Maria Sakkari managed to play only one set against the Chinese Wang (2-6), before leaving with a shoulder injury. The same problem disqualified her from the recent Masters tournament in Cincinnati.
