The Tropico series is already 23 years old! The older installments haven’t aged very gracefully, but considering that the fourth installment can now be had for free, there’s nothing to complain about!
Feel like a cheerful dictator
The first game in the Tropico series debuted in 2001. At that time, the player took on the role of a dictator of a Caribbean island during the Cold War in the 1950s. The creators introduced a certain amount of humor to this economic strategy, treating the subject of politics with a pinch of salt. The characteristic style of a banana republic, modeled somewhat on Cuba, has accompanied almost every installment of the series since then (with the exception of the second part, in which the main theme was the then fashionable pirates).
Tropic 4 was released 10 years later – in August 2011, also hitting the Xbox 360 console. As The President we continued to perform functions related to the management of our island mini-state, developing the economy, taking care of the well-being of the inhabitants of the territory under our control and making sure that the amounts in our bank account kept “on the side” were growing exponentially.
In the basic version of the game, the campaign is divided into 20 missions, during which we as players will construct new buildings, undertake foreign trade and try to recover economically after natural disasters befalling our tropical island – for example, volcanic eruptions, droughts and tornadoes.

Tropico 4 for free on GOG
Some people complain that the aforementioned title is actually a re-release of the “three”, which I could agree with. However, considering that you can recall the times of the cheerful dictatorship for free, I will not complain. I still have not played the “fifth”, which was once given away za free w Epic Games Store.
