Voluntary Blood Donation Program Revitalized in Granma

In order to revive the Voluntary Blood Donation Program, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in Granma are carrying out various actions in different municipalities, aimed at motivating those who carry out this noble and humane gesture.

As a result of this work, which is carried out jointly with the provincial health department, as well as with other organizations, companies and entities, more than 70 donations were received in the different municipalities on Tuesday.

Lilian Rodríguez Arévalo, an organizational officer at the Provincial Coordination of the CDR, said that work is being done to revitalize and strengthen the program, which contributes to saving lives.

He said that the work is also aimed at incorporating donors who were inactive and others who are just starting out in this sensitive task.

He added that voluntary blood donations are carried out every day, both in the Blood Banks of each municipality, and in the outskirts organized by the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution in neighborhoods and work centers.

The official emphasized that the program was affected by the lack of supplies necessary to make donations, but that they are working to achieve systematic activity and thus comply with the planned plan.

He argued that working to comply with the blood extraction plan is a motivation for September 28, the 64th anniversary of the constitution of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, the main promoter of voluntary blood donations in the country.
