The comic, written by Michael Frizell and illustrated by Pablo Martin’sThe 22-page book captures the remarkable journey of Bryant, known as the ‘Black Mamba,’ from his beginnings as a basketball prodigy to becoming an enduring legend, a press release said.
The Los Angeles Lakers star was born into a family with deep roots in the NBA, as he is the son of former professional player, Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant.
The passion of Kobe Bryant for basketball became apparent at a young age and moving to Italy at just six years old allowed him to hone his skills in a different environment before returning to the United States to attend high school.
Kobe’s journey in the NBA It started right out of high school when he was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996, before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he would spend the entirety of his 20-year career.
Bryant’s relentless pursuit of excellence, combined with his exceptional talent and fierce competitiveness, led him to lead the Lakers to five NBA championships. NBAearning 18 All-Star selections and being named NBA MVP in 2008.
Beyond his illustrious basketball career, Kobe was an advocate for youth sports and education, and even cemented his legacy by winning an Academy Award for his emotional short film, Dear Basketballin 2018.
The tragic loss of Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, has only served to amplify his influence on aspiring athletes around the world, the note states.
