Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was in charge of inaugurating the session that brings together the Heads of State of Latin America and the Caribbean.
«We don’t care about threats, we don’t care about being made invisible, what matters is that the Venezuelan people exist, are in combat and are victorious» said the Venezuelan head of state during his speech.
The meeting in progress has the participation of the presidents of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel; Bolivia, Luis Arce Catacora; Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega.
Also participating are the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Everard Gonsalves, the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Denzil Llewellyn Douglas, and the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre. Also present as a guest is the Honduran ambassador to Venezuela, Scarleth Romero.
The Venezuelan president also thanked the nations for their support, following the difficulties presented by a cyber coup. He also extended his thanks to the representatives of the nations participating in the preparatory meeting of the ALBA-TCP council of social movements.
Díaz-Canel, for his part, said: “We stand in solidarity without a single doubt with the brotherly people of Venezuela. We will always and unambiguously defend what the peaceful, honorable and beloved people of Venezuela defend and support with their will, who, punished by unjust coercive and unilateral measures and in the midst of very adverse circumstances, have achieved with much work and determination the economic and social rebirth of the Nation.”
Luis Arce Catacora, meanwhile, pointed out that “It is essential to promote unity among peoples and regional integration”; While denouncing that the hybrid war “has been unleashed against Venezuela through a disinformation campaign.”
During the meeting, support for Venezuela’s sovereignty and the results of the July 28 elections, which ratified Maduro as president for the 2025-2031 period, will be discussed.
