A cyberattack took down the Internet, phones, email and other systems at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The airport’s director of aviation, Lance Little, said in a press conference: “We are working around the clock to restore essential systems to operation and minimize the impact on our passengers. discount.”
He pointed out that the airport is conducting an investigation with the help of outside experts and is working closely with federal counterparts, including the Transportation Security Administration and Customs and Border Protection, explaining that the outage will not affect the security department’s ability to screen passengers, but it did affect the airport’s baggage sorting system.
Many passengers faced longer than usual lines for security screening, and long waiting times when luggage was collected and checked. Some also found it difficult to find out which portal was assigned to them.
The airport administration wrote on its Facebook page: “Airport crews continue to make progress in restoring the systems, but we have not yet been able to set a specific date position to return to normal work.”
