Christian color-bearing student associations are no longer purely male and together they bring exciting events to Baden.
BADEN. Student associations have existed in Baden for over 100 years. The district circle forms the link between the various associations, which all share four common principles:
- Religio – Christian attitude to life
- Patria – the love for the homeland Austria
- Scientia – Lifelong education
- Amicitia – Lifelong friendship
Friendship in the connection
CV circle chairman Friedrich Zemanek highlights the friendship between young and old as a special feature of the associations: “As a student, you come into contact with ‘old boys’ in professional life and are valued.
The Veritas Baden student fraternity was founded 50 years ago with the teacher training college. Marcello Lamberti, Veritas Baden, explains the excitement of being in a fraternity: “I noticed how well the people get along with each other. You don’t often find 90-year-olds and young people in a deep friendship.”
The interdisciplinary exchange between the various professional groups is another important feature of the associations in order to think outside the box. The various associations are also friendly with one another.
Young Women’s Association
Vulkania Baden was founded in Fürstenfeld in 2017 and moved to Baden in October 2023. It is a women-only fraternity for schoolgirls from the age of 15. Shana Schnider reports that the fraternity can be a safe haven for finding oneself. Like its male counterpart Badenia, they currently have 9 foxes, i.e. trial members. She explains that the separation of girls and boys is desired by the members: “the conversations are different, you can be more yourself.” There is an exchange between the fraternity and there are also joint events.
Lectures and discussions in Baden
Zemanek explains that the associations want to bring knowledge, based on values, into society. This is why events are regularly organized that are also open to the interested public. The Baden district circle of the ÖCV, Vulkania Baden, Badenia and Veritas Baden jointly invite you:
Since education is an important topic for them, they have brought the well-known mathematician Rudolf Taschner to Baden for a lecture. On September 9th, the talk “Education is the solution to almost everything!” will take place at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Volksbank Baden.
This year, there will be events with cathedral pastor Toni Faber on October 23, 2024, on the topic of city mission. On November 22, beer pope Conrad Seidl will give an insight into beer enjoyment. In 2025, the focus will be on digitization and fake news, social insurance, bioethics, retirement planning and Vienna Woods tourism.
