Appearing on the Sans Filet show on Winamax TV this Monday alongside Benoît Maylin, journalist Frédéric Verdier gave his opinion on Emma Raducanu’s recent comments regarding Andy Murray’s retirement.
And clearly, our colleague did not appreciate the British player’s exit at all.
🤦♂️ “I don’t agree with Raducanu. She’s not the one who’s going to tell us whether we should forget Andy Murray or not. She’s nothing in the history of tennis.”

“I don’t agree at all. I understand very well what she means but she says it badly, it’s not up to her to say it. And for once, I’m sorry, but she is nothing in the history of tennis. Her title at the US Open is legendary but it’s a “one shot”, she hasn’t confirmed anything since but in the end it’s not even her who is in question, it’s just saying: “tennis doesn’t forgive, it doesn’t forgive anything”. It’s false, it’s not true. People have memories and there is no question of forgetting Roger Federer or Rod Laver. It doesn’t make sense, it’s ridiculous. Understanding history and the past is understanding the future. It’s not Raducanu who is going to tell us whether we should respect Andy Murray or not respect him, forget him or not forget him.”
