Mayoral candidate Karen Ordoñez met with the director of the facility and established an agreement. The facility serves more than 25 thousand people.
The possibility of having more professionals in the Emergency Service of the San José Hospital in Casablanca, which serves a population of more than 25 thousand people, was one of the topics discussed during a meeting between the director of the facility, Juan Correa Peña, and the candidate for Mayor of Casablanca, Karen Ordoñez Urzúa.
During the meeting in which they analyzed the current state of public services, another of the issues discussed was the waiting times of users, which depending on the day and the treatment, can vary between 20 minutes and four hours.
“In the hospital’s emergency service we currently have 2 doctors every day, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and during these days there has been a high demand from the community. In truth, we have had waiting times that are reasonable for the need for care (…) Casablanca does not make the distinction that we only attend to emergencies. Clearly, in that condition, a little more waiting time and that is what we ask of the community, patience because we need to attend to everyone.”.
In terms of patient support measures to streamline the service, the director said, improvements are being implemented in the technology for taking and distributing appointments for specialized departments, as well as the downloading of exams through the medical center’s website.
Karen Ordoñez, the only female candidate for Mayor, promised to provide more professionals to the premises, as well as to promote the services it provides.
“We have come to greet, to introduce ourselves, to make ourselves available, in our next communal government in what has to do with the support of the municipality to hire more doctors, especially for the emergency sector and to be able to work together and in communion in everything that has to do with communications, the dissemination of all the services that they provide, for the benefit of all the neighbors.”
