There was drama, a penalty kick saved by Łukasz Bomba, three spectacular goals and, most importantly, a deserved victory for the “Rycerze Wiosny”. In the 7th round of Betclic 1st League, ŁKS players defeated Chrobry Głogów 3-0 after goals by Andreu Arasa, Michał Mokrzycki and Jędrzej Zając.
Coach Jakub Dziółka’s team focused on attacking from the first minute of Sunday’s match with Chrobry Głogów, and since the Łódź team tried to play precisely, and at the same time changed the tempo of their actions and the sides of their attacks, they quickly pushed their opponents to the defensive. What’s more, even after losing the ball, the hosts were usually able to quickly regain it, so in front of Łukasz Bomba’s goal we played little in this part of the match.
What was missing for complete happiness? More precision around the visitors’ penalty area, and consequently shots on goal, because apart from a promising strike by Andreu Arasa and two other, unfortunately blocked shots, there were few of them. Fate, however, could have smiled on the opponent, because in the 27th minute the referee saw Ivan Mihaljevic play the ball with his hand and after consulting VAR awarded a penalty, but Łukasz Bomba made a great save on a shot by Mikołaj Lebedyński, and the Chrobry striker’s follow-up shot hit the crossbar.

ŁKS was the better team and proved it before the break. In the 40th minute, Piotr Głowacki, who was playing well, spotted Antoni Młynarczyk on the left wing, who played a flat pass to the middle of the penalty area, where Andreu Arasa showed off his skills – the Spaniard outpaced the defenders, passed one of them with a clever feint, and then hit the crossbar (1:0). However, the “Knights of Spring” were not enough and just before the whistle they increased their lead after a move by Stefan Feiertag, a pass by Kamil Dankowski, who was also very active on Sunday, and a precise shot from the air by Michał Mokrzycki (2:0).

After the first, very exciting half of the match, the players slowed down a bit. There was a fierce battle in the middle of the pitch, apart from that the visitors tried to take the initiative, but apart from the situation in the 58th minute, when after our mistake Mikołaj Lebedyński came face to face with Łukasz Bomba for the second time that day (this time he shot after taking the ball), which our young goalkeeper again coped with brilliantly, not much happened after the ŁKS goal.
The players from Łódź controlled the course of the match. When necessary, they played the ball consciously, taking their time and taking care of safety at the back; when the opportunity arose, they tried to surprise their opponents with a fast attack, which was helped by the still good service of the second line (another great performance by, among others, Michał Mokrzycki) and the brilliance of Antoni Młynarczyk, who was harassing defenders on the left wing. Two or three times, things boiled in front of Krzysztof Wróblewski’s goal (once after a clever pass by Michał Mokrzycki; then after a header by Mateusz Kupczak, whose calmness helped the team a lot on Sunday).

Coach Jakub Dziółka’s team put the icing on the cake in the 89th minute and once again there was something to look forward to. The players from ŁKS played the ball patiently in front of Chrobry’s penalty area for a long time, eventually they sped up, Michał Mokrzycki threw the ball over the heads of defenders, and a second later Jędrzej Zając, who had been brought onto the pitch towards the end, caught it and with a spectacular sliding strike set the score. Then, after an action by another substitute, Kelechukwu Ibe-Torti, the same player hit the post.
The Łódź Sports Club defeated Chrobry Głogów 3-0, thus achieving their second victory in a row and their first this season at the King’s stadium. In the next series of Betclic 1. Liga matches, the Łódź team will face Odra Opole away.
